Beaverhead Republican Women invite the public to Ike's Birthday Tea at the party headquarters next Saturday from 2 to 4 PM. Mrs J H Gilbert says birthday cakes made from Eisenhower's favorite recipe will be served with coffee and doughnuts. All local residents and visitors are urged to stop by and sample the cake Ike likes best.
Banks county offices and the state liquor store will be closed Friday Oct 12 for Columbus Day. The post office federal agencies and many businesses will remain open and observe no holiday.
Dr. H F Wilkins of the Montana Livestock Sanitary Board praised Beaverhead County for achieving a modified certified brucellosis free status. He noted Dr L W Vinsel launched testing in 1953, covering 50 055 cattle in 401 herds, reducing infected herds from 75 to 3 and reactors under 100. The county earned the distinction as the fourth in the state to reach this status.
