Panion Sentenced to State Prison in Manslaughter Case
Tony Panion of Butte is sentenced by District Judge Henry G. Rodgers to two years in state prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter linked to a crash that killed Pearl I. Smith, a Dillon prominent figure and former state senator. Panion had fled the scene and was found later by authorities.

Beaverhead county stages its third ram sale at the fair grounds livestock pavilion on Saturday October 16 with County Agent Bernard Williams in charge. Rancher Peter Anderson of Sage Creek Dies at 74
Peter Anderson, longtime Sage Creek rancher in Beaverhead County, died Saturday at Barrett hospital. Born May 1 1863 in Sweden, he came to America as a youth and settled in Dillon after moving through ranch work. Surviving: widow, a brother in Alaska, Sam Freeman by marriage, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral held Monday at Brundage chapel with Rev. J A Meeke officiating. interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Alleged Freight Car Burglar Sentenced in District Court
Frank Butler was arraigned before Judge Henry G. Rodgers in district court last Wednesday charged with burglary pleaded guilty and sentenced to two years in state prison. Butler was arrested by city officers and a railroad special agent for breaking into freight cars in the Oregon Short Line yards and allegedly carried stolen merchandise. He led officers to a cache where the rest of the loot was found.
