A hearing on organizing the East Bench Irrigation District in Beaverhead and Madison counties was held in Virginia City before Judge Philip C. Duncan. Of 75 landowners, 68 joined the petition, representing 98.1 percent of the 37,959 acres with 23,800 irrigable. Four landowners sought inclusion. no objectors appeared. Harold Aldrich of the Bureau of Reclamation testified on feasibility and the East Bench Canal, 53 miles long with 25 laterals.
