Beaverhead County Fall Court Term Opens With Bell Robbery Trial

The Beaverhead County fall district court term begins with Harvey Bell's robbery trial. Judge Lyman H. Bennett presides as other criminal and civil cases await calendaring. Bell received seven and a half years in prison after a quick verdict. an alleged accomplice has pleaded guilty and serves time at Deer Lodge. Jurors were excused until Monday. further criminal and civil matters are planned.

Isaac of Bozeman to Visit Beaverhead Communities

Montana extension agent B E Isaac will hold meetings in three Beaverhead areas this week. Miss Lillian Stone and Bernard Williams announce sessions in Dillon Wisdom Woman's Club Friday Wise River Friday night and tomorrow at 8 in Dillon. Dell Home Demonstration Lab elected officers Edna Biat president Nellie Knight vice president and Cantrell secretary.

Beaver Squad Opens 1935 Season With Win At Whitehall

Beaverhead county high school opened its 1935 campaign with an 18 0 victory over Whitehall at Whitehall. Fran cis Gibbons led the offense with passing and running plays and Wheat scored the first TD on the second quarter’s opening drive. The Beavers, missing star Lee, showcased seven veterans including quarterback Gibbons and a strong passing connection F Gibbons to W Gibbons. Next game is at Bozeman on Oct 12.

Ram Sale Set in Dillon with 500 Head Offered

Five hundred head of rams will be offered for sale at an auction in Dillon on Saturday Oct. 19. Consignors include Cook Sheep company Ralph Jorgenson Otto Schulz Charles LaDue George Selway C E Sime and William Dineke. Full sale details promised next week by County Agent Bernard Williams. Lambs shipped thousands of head along the Oregon Short Line in Beaver.

Wisdom Eastern Star Observes Anniversary

The Wisdom chapter marked its twentieth anniversary with a joint past matron and patron night and banquet. Edith Jorgensen, first worthy matron, attended as guest of honor and led the candle wish for the chapter. The event followed a week of remembrance in Wisdom, with 26 places set for the banquet.

Two Youths Die in Dewey Area Car Crash

James McVeigh 24 and Hubert Warring 25 of Butte were found dead in their overturned car in the Big Hole river east of Dewey. The drownings resulted from the car sinking after a 70 foot rock slope blowout took the vehicle off course. Coroner James Phillips ruled death accidental after an inquest. Undersheriff Blinn and Sheriff Brundage aided the investigation.

Cubs Edge Tigers 3-0 In World Series Opener

Lonnie Warneke pitched a complete game shutout to lift the Chicago Cubs over the Detroit Tigers 3-0 in the first game of the World Series. The Cubs scored in the first after Galan reached on an error and Hartnett drove in Herman, with DeMaree adding a ninth inning homer. Detroit threatened twice but Warneke held firm.

Dillon Native Weds Oakland Dental Student in San Francisco

Miss Margaret Virginia Jordan daughter of Prof and Mrs Rush Jordan Dillon and Hiram Archie McPherson of Oakland were married Wednesday Sept 25 in San Francisco. The bride a Beaverhead county high school graduate editor of the Beaver and UC alumna. The groom studies dentistry at UC. They will live in Oakland.

Autumn team opens Monday at Normal with large attendance

Opening day registration shows higher enrollment than last year at Montana State Normal College. A large male student body includes several athletes, with new faculty and several vacancies to fill. Football prospects at Montana State Normal College look bright after Coach Herb Kakuske called for candidates on Monday. About 40 men have joined the squad, including returning lettermen and several former state scholastic stars. Annual Girl Scout Party in Dillon Scheduled

The annual Girl Scout card party will be held at the St James guild hall Friday evening Oct 18. The event is run by the Girl Scout council finance committee chaired by Mrs Ernest C Luebben to raise funds for the year. Any girl 10 to 18 in Dillon may join. Range management and grass plot tour in county

A group of 25 stockmen bankers forestry officials and others toured range management and grass plots Sunday led by County Agent Bernard Williams. The visit included Bloody Dick ranger station a pasture range to the Big Hole basin and inspection of available grazing areas.
