Dillon Gun Club Turkey Shoot Set for Sunday
The Dillon Gun club announces its annual turkey shoot at the local traps next Sunday December 3. Trapshooting teams from Butte Sheridan Lima Anaconda Helena and other areas expect to attend. About 50 prize turkeys await winners with squads of five firing at 10 birds and high scores earning a turkey per squad. A special beginner squad will be organized for new shooters.

Officials seek Helena assay office return for mining state
A Sheridan meeting of the Madison County Mining association launched a drive to move the state assay office back to Helena. Since 1932 miners have shipped ore to Denver causing delays and higher costs. District Deputy Joseph Brooks of Livingston praised Dillon Lodge 1554 for its new home and urged Americanism. Frank Venable, VP of Montana State, attended as guest.

Butte Men Fined After Disturbance Plea
Steve Battle and Roy Anderson of Butte were fined 30 dollars each after pleading guilty to disturbance charges in Judge Louis Stahl's court Monday. They were accused of causing a disturbance in Dell Sunday night and were taken into custody by Sheriff Paul Temple and Undersheriff John Troupe. Walter Ware, 47, fined 27.50 for illegal muskrat trapping by Justice of the Peace George Helming. jailed for inability to pay. Six mink and four pens stolen from Tom Carney fur farm near Dillon reported to Sheriff Temple.

George M. Gosman, Montana Legion commander, returned from Indianapolis where national officers met. Montana missed a Big Ten rating by a small margin as Iowa raised its Nov 30 quota by 500. Montana must report more cards by Nov 30 to qualify. Beaverhead post, with 106 paid members, surpassed its quota and aims for 175 to set a department record in honor of C. A. Bechler.

Fur farmer sells 100 pair breeding mink in Montana record
Chester Hale of Dillon sold 100 breeding mink to S. C. Sweet, a prominent Butte business man and sportsman. The deal is considered possibly the largest of its kind in Montana or the Northwest. Sweet will stock a Wise River ranch he recently bought.

Alva Garr Dies After Illness in Beaverhead County
Alva S. Garr a major Beaverhead county rancher who arrived in 1888 died after months of illness. Born April 30 1868 in Bloomfield Iowa he moved to Montana at 20 to prospect with brothers Milt and Frank Garr later settling near Dell. He married Maude Coones in Molton Iowa December 27 1896 and made Dell his home.
