Natural gas for Shelby expected by January 1 1923

The William A. Baehr organization plans to supply Shelby with natural gas for heating cooking and lighting by January 1 1923 with a 16 inch main from the Ohio Berg well to the city limits at an initial projected cost of 2 500 000. The pipeline will meet Shelby needs and allow future expansion to Great Falls if demand warrants. The price is not fixed but may run around 35 cents per thousand feet versus coal at 3 50 a ton. Two miles of main will be laid along Main Street using six inch pipe and installation will cost 75 000 to 100 000.

Mystic Lake Hydro Plant to Drive 1100 Foot Power Drop

Montana Power plans a unique Mystic lake plant in Stillwater county. A horizontal tunnel to a shaft will drop water 1100 feet to turbines powering eastern Montana towns. Construction includes a 30 foot dam and a two mile intake tunnel with penstocks delivering power from a high head site near Columbus.
