Montana crops show corn slump and potato rise in 1952
Montana’s 1952 corn crop is estimated at 2 030 000 bushels, well below the 10 year average and last year’s 2 392 000, due to early drought. The potato harvest, aided by good conditions, is pegged at 2 585 000 bushels, above 1951. Dry bean quality was high with 112 000 bags produced. Sugar beets total 481 000 tons, down from 1951 due to less acreage. Milk yields slipped as dry pastures cut daily production. Egg output in October rose to 18 million.
