Beaverhead County Commissioners Hold November Session Minutes

Beaverhead County Montana board of county commissioners met Nov 4 and 6 1935 for regular sessions. Discussions covered septic tank cleaning at county farm and adding Shepard's Montana Citations volumes with cumulative supplements. An agreement with Beaverhead National Forest on Birch Creek road rebuilding from U S Highway 91 to CCC camp F 60 was signed and filed.

Educational Executives Give Talks at Dillon Rotary Dinner

President Sheldon EB Davis of Montana State Normal college and Superintendent Charles Henry spoke to the Dillon Rotary Club at the Metlen hotel on National Education week. They warned about informal education agencies and described adult education and study groups, urging intelligent evaluation of propaganda. Thomas FE Luebben announced the Beaverhead Red Cross campaign opening today with liberal support noted.

Beaverhead Air Beacons to be Built Soon

Department of commerce officials say lighting of National Parks Airways through Beaverhead county and down the valley may be completed before spring. Beacons will be installed on a mountain near Canyon resort south of Dillon and on Beaverhead Rock north of the city with additional lights at Twin Bridges and other valley points. A new Dillon field is planned for next spring as the existing airport is too small for larger planes. Art Hadfield of Bozeman, a commerce representative, spent the weekend in Dillon on beacon negotiations.

Elk Leader Visits Dillon Lodge Initiates Two Candidates

H. F. Root of Missoula district deputy grand exalted ruler of the Elks paid an official visit to Dillon Lodge No. 1564 at the I. O. O. F. hall. Two candidates, Stanley Gordon and Elba Durbin, were initiated during the meeting followed by a dance and refreshments.

Clothing 4-H Club Organized at Wisdom

A first year Clothing 4-H club was organized at Wisdom with Lillian Stone in charge. Mary Gill elected leader and Helen Anson as assistant. Elsie Schonenberger named president Julie Pendleton vice president etc. Other charter members include Rose Priestly Jean Troupe and Georgia Schonenberger. The movement grows in Beaverhead County under Miss Stone and County Agent Bernard Williams.

Dancers to perform at Dillon high school event

Ted Shawn and group will appear in Dillon on Saturday night December 7 sponsored by the Normal college women's physical education department. An advance ticket sale will begin soon with limited seats. The event is described as one of the most important yet brought to Dillon, due to the Helena earthquakes and auditor ium condemnation.

Mrs Lizzie Parsons Dies in Pasadena Hospital

Wisdom column reports Mrs. Lizzie Parsons widow of George Parsons died last Thursday in a Pasadena hospital after eight weeks of illness. She was a charter member and past matron of Wisdom chapter O E S, with many neighbors mourning her loss.

Future Farmer Chapter Holds Annual Father and Son Dinner

Beaverhead county high school Future Farmers chapter hosted its annual father and son banquet at the school Saturday night. Joe Ritchel spoke as state Future Farmers president, with Arthur Christensen Floyd Pahnish Wallace Banning Earl Bjork and Rev. J A Meeke also presenting. The program featured a boys quartet led by Decker Gilbert Wolfe Wheat with Jane Waldorf and Rev Meeke guiding group singing. Beaverhead post of the American Legion led the day’s program as Normal and Gooding Idaho grid squads battled to a 6 6 tie on an icy fairgrounds field. Red Cross Drive Opens in Beaverhead County for Subscriptions

Beaverhead County launches its annual Red Cross roll call with County Chairman T. H. Luebben predicting a record response. Mrs. D. I. Storm and Cold Wave Hit Beaverhead County

A heavy weekend snow storm swept Beaverhead County with several inches of accumulation and sub zero temperatures Saturday night. Stockmen remained hopeful as herds were sheltered and feed stocked. the storm affected western Montana and followed an unseasonably cold October.

Beaverhead Mine at Ermont Up for 700000 Sale

Owners of the Ermont mine near Dillon were offered 700000 for the property according to the Montana Oil and Mining journal. Bidders include South African Goldfields while Boles and Caswell of Seattle are owner partners. The Ermont discovery was made by D W Erwin and W J Corbett of Dillon who sold it previously as deeper mining yielded richer ore. Adjacent Badger mine is another Erwin discovery now run by Erwin and Hurley Leach of Dillon and is a large producer. Ernest Shafer and brothers operate another local mine linked to a 100000 ore sale to Anaconda Copper Mining Co.
