Beaverhead County backed Democrats in yesterday's election with majorities for most targets. Walsh carried the county by five votes in unofficial returns from 24 precincts. Fitzgarrald led by 28, Albert Anderson by 199 over Mathews, and Young won Carey by 470.

Eaverhead county high school hosts a father and son banquet by the Future Farmers of America with talks by J. E. Border and Smith-Hughes students. Home economics girls prepared the meal. The FFA also sponsored a well attended dance at the high school gym. In county elections R Beaverhead's 3555 electors. 2710 voted. Clerk John S. Baker received the highest unopposed vote with 2187. Bertie Mathews second with 2125. Emerick Gilbert Garr Phillips and Metlen also received solid support. sheriff received the heaviest vote.

The Methodist Episcopal church in Dillon marked its 50th anniversary with a three day program Friday through Sunday. Clergy from across the state attended, with Bishop Wallace B Brown of Helena delivering the morning sermon. A jubilee conference, reminiscences, memorial services at Bannack, and music by the Montana State Normal College glee club highlighted the observance.

Members of the American Legion auxiliary in Dillon organized Forget-Me-Not Day last Saturday. Hundreds of artificial blossoms, produced by disabled veterans, were sold by the committee led by Mrs. Louis Schmittroth. Proceeds will aid disabled veterans' families.

Tax Statements Mailed by Beaverhead County Treasurer
Beaverhead County taxpayers receive tax notices this week from County Treasurer Norah Connnelly. County taxes will be slightly lower than last year despite a 2 mill levy increase due to a 1 percent mill rise in the high school fund and a half mill for election purposes. The county valuation fell about 300000 largely from railroad valuation dips. First half payments are due this month and must be paid before November 30, a Sunday so the final day is November 29.
