Dillon Man Ezekiel Provost Dies After Long Illness
Ezekiel Provost longtime Dillon resident and businessman died Wednesday morning at Murray Hospital in Butte after a lingering illness. He was born September 9 1853 in Rolling Prairie Indiana served in the United States Army and moved to Dillon in 1887 where Provost and Ripley built a prominent Montana business. Funeral held Saturday afternoon with American Legion in charge of services.

Erickson maintains a solid margin of 15000 in early returns as Walsh leads by 4000 over Evans. The rest of the state ticket shows Republicans ahead.
Beaverhead County Ends Metal Mines Tax and Elects Local Winners
In Beaverhead county several tight races and the defeated Metal Mines tax marked election night. Mooney beat Gist for sheriff by about 40 to 50 votes while Pearl I Smith won representative. A L Anderson defeated Arch Main for county commissioner. Rife led Stephenson for clerk of court by about 375. Rodgers topped Parker by over 600 in Beaverhead, Erickson swept county for judge with a majority over 800, and many incumbents gained comfortable margins statewide.

Death calls Beaverhead pioneer Elza Murray
Elza Murray, longtime Beaverhead County pioneer, miner and rancher, died last Friday at his sister in law J P Murray’s Dillon home after a period of illness. Born July 13 1843 in Ashland Ohio he followed the gold rush to California and later moved to Montana joining early western mining and ranching communities. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Dillon Masonic Lodge with burial arrangements noted on the upcoming page.

The Normal College eleven earned its first win of the season by defeating Ricks College Rexburg Idaho 6-0 on their home field. Evans scored a touchdown after an 80 yard run and the teachers showed marked improvement and will face Normal High School in a key Armistice Day city championship showdown.

Beaverhead County mailed tax notices this week to about 3500 taxpayers. Personal property taxes deadline is November 30 with 30 days allowed for the payment period. Real estate and livestock taxes require half paid by November 30 with the remainder due later.

Armistice Day celebration by Beaverhead Post No 20
Beaverhead Post No. 20 American Legion plans Armistice Day on November 11 with a parade at 10:30 a.m. and a patriotic program on the depot lawn if weather permits. The day includes a formal program, a flag raising, a 30 second silence, and an afternoon football game between the high school and Montana State Normal teams, followed by a banquet and dance for ex-service men from Beaverhead, Madison, and Jefferson counties.

William Holden six died Wednesday at Barratt hospital from acute appendicitis after a week of illness. Born in Dillon six years ago he started school this fall. Survived by parents Norman E Holden ranchers two brothers and three sisters. Funeral Friday at Brundage chapel with Rev T W Bennett officiating. Interment Mountain View cemetery.

Early Morning Pool Hall Theft Stuns Gleed
The Gleed pool hall was entered through a rear window Monday morning. About twenty dollars was taken from the cash register while the large safe remained untouched and another register held 35.00 unmolested, suggesting the burglar was frightened away. no arrests or clues have been found.
