O T Vandegrift, Dillon volunteer fire chief and Union Electric lineman, is famed for climbing skill. He raced up a tall pine in Bloody Dick as two angry bears with bullet wounds attacked. He fired at the wounded bear and the pair then turned on him.

Beaverhead county voters cast a record general election total with 320 absentees. Beaverhead High School pupils conducted a mock poll ten days prior, publishing results in Beaverhead weekly. Roosevelt led 139 to 80 against London while Hazelbaker topped 165 to 62. county ticket votes included Temple 127 and Doyle 138.

Red Cross Roll Call Opens Armistice Day Campaign
The Red Cross annual membership drive begins next Wednesday Armistice Day and runs through Thanksgiving. Beaverhead leaders T E Luebben Lee Light and Luella Stickney head the effort with Elizabeth Clemon assisting. Beaverhead ranks third in Montana with 778 members, behind Lewis and Clark and Gallatin. Miss V M Iams praised Montana for 30 069 registrations and cited 403 families rehabilitated by Red Cross work in the state.

Anniversary Armistice Observed in Beaverhead County
