Prominent Basin Woman Cecile Hirschy Dies at 89
Mrs. Cecile Wenger Hirschy 89, known as Grand ma, died May 22 at Mercy Hospital San Diego after a fall that fractured her hip. Pioneer rancher in Big Hole with husband Fred Hirschy, she was born September 8, 1860 in Bern Switzerland and immigrated 1880. Survived by twelve children, thirty one grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Funeral plans pending.

Dillon Gun Club hosted visitors from across Montana on Sunday May 14 as nine clubs competed in a registered shoot. Russell Smith of Dillon won the singles event with 98 while C A Galloway of Hamilton won the handicap and also took the doubles with 48 birds.

Legion Plans Four-Team Baseball League for Dillon Youth

The Bagdad temple Shriners held their annual spring ceremonial last Saturday in Butte led by Herman R. Peterson Dillon potentate and general director. About 170 candidates crossed the burning sands toward the City of, with the Rev. Robert N. Johnstone of Grace Memorial Methodist Church Dillon among attendees. Over 25 cities were represented as hundreds gathered for the grand function, while Mrs. John F. Woodside of Dillon and Mrs. Peterson attended the banquet and program.

Burglar Gets Six Months in Deer Lodge Prison
County Attorney W. G. Gilbert Jr filed charges in district court against Belton Roper for burglary. Roper admitted guilt to robbing the home of dump caretaker Matt Peterson and was sentenced by Judge Lyman Bennett to six months at the state prison in Deer Lodge. He has several prior convictions and was sent to Deer Lodge this morning.
