Beav erhead County prepares conscript registration drive

Sheriff C K Wyman leads the June six registration for males aged 21 to 31. County population around 7600 yields an estimated 7650 eligible. about 35 to 40 conscripts expected from the county, with Dillon contributing roughly a dozen men. Registration runs 7 am to 9 pm at precinct voting places with strict penalties for evasion.

The Beaverhead State Bank opened its doors in the Phillip's block on North Idaho street with a public reception. The new bank features mahogany and marble interiors, a spacious lobby, and a ladies rest room, drawing visitors and telegrams from out of town banks.

Stewart Tayor Buys Ranch Near Melrose

Stewart Taylor from Colorado purchased the 160 acre ranch of Noah Allen at Melrose and adjacent Connors ranch, bought recently by Taylor. Frank Hazelbaker arranged the deal. Taylor, brother of Mrs. E. O. Selway, plans to enter the Beaverhead county sheep business.

Citizens Donate Cash Prizes For Dillon Cleanup Drive

The Good Government club offers cash prizes and honors in a community cleanup campaign. Class one rewards self work with cash from 2.50 to 10 dollars for yard and alley improvements, vegetable garden upkeep, flower displays, and window boxes. A special prize of five dollars is set for a youth under 15 who participates.

Mrs Angy Chadwick Dies at 96 in Dillon

Mrs Angy Chadwick died last Saturday afternoon at age 96 at the home of Mrs Kate Fitzharris where she had resided for three years She was the widow of a Lima pioneer railroad man and lived there until three years ago when her husband died and she came to Dillon for county care The funeral was held Sunday in Dillon and she was buried in Mountain View cemetery

Byron Mument a Dillon boy recruit has been appointed orderly to Major Jesse B. Roote at Great Falls and is home on leave. He praises army life and training seven hours daily, with many boys patrolling bridges and tunnels near Great Falls. Mrs. W. F. Cashmore reports sons Dewey and Fred Bechtold with the Second Montana regimental band and asks friends to send news or a box of goodies.
