Dillon Plans Record Fourth of July Celebration

A mass meeting at Dillon city hall decided on a big Fourth of July celebration with an executive committee and sub committees assigned to sports music procession publicity transportation and more. W A Jones was named executive chairman and Frank Eliel elected secretary with H L McCaleb as treasurer.

Memorial Day Observed With Townwide Ceremonies

Dillon schedules Memorial Day events including a church service at the Presbyterian church on Sunday May 26 and a Decoration Day assembly in front of the courthouse. Comrades will march to the opera house for services with Rev W A Winters delivering the address and Lincoln Gettysburg address read. Six school children decorate the cemetery and a flag is given to each participant.

Death of Mrs. Della Driscoll at 91

Mrs. Della Driscoll aged 91 years 7 months 19 days died at her home in Dillon after old age infirmities. Funeral from her home Saturday. interment Mountain View Cemetery. She was mother of William Ed Driscoll and Mia Demart and grandmother of the Wilton children. A longtime Dillon resident she was known as Grandma Driscoll for her kindness and generous deeds.

Southern Cross Tuning Company Elects Officers

At a Dillon meeting of the Southern Cross Mining and Reduction company officers for six months were elected. B F White president and George Woodworth vice president plus Hazelbaker secretary treasurer and Maynard superintendent. Directors listed. Five claims in Couer d Alene near Mullan Idaho. Incorporated in Washington for 1.5 million dollars. Development work to begin this summer with shaft work underway.

Beaverhead High to Hold Sixth Commencement Week

Beaverhead county high school prepares for its sixth annual commencement week with nine graduates this semester and two who finished in January. Events include Juniors banquet at Burfiend hall, Alumni banquet, class play The Venered Savage at Dillon Theatre, and speeches by Tom Gilbert and John Albers.

Judge J M Clements heard Flynn v Ragh with Judge Callaway dequalified. James P Coleman granted a divorce from Mary L Coleman for desertion at Bedrock. Judge Clements denied opening a default in Froman v Thomas. Great Western Bank won $1148.62 and costs in Smith. Knivel v Stevenson dismissed per stipulation. Clarence Strowbridge was made a party defendant and fined for failing to appear. The court closed after Judge Callaway returned from the Big Hole basin.

Serious Injury In Beaverhead County High School Incident

Guy Finsley, student at Beaverhead County High School, was seriously injured Saturday while helping haul radiators for the Normal building. The wagon backed into a ditch, pinning his right leg between the radiator and endgate, breaking both bones. Allie Brown acted quickly to lift the load, aiding his escape before medical help arrived at his home.

Helena Beats Dillon in Sloppy Eight to Fifteen Defeat

Helena could not muster earned runs as Dillon errors and mishaps fueled a 15 to 4 loss. LaCroix limited Helena’s offense with Ripley backing him behind the plate amid a rough day for both squads. Barry and Sith contributed at the plate while Ngan and Ekland adjusted positions for upcoming changes. Next week’s schedule includes games against Troy Laundry and Idaho Falls.
