Graduation Exercises Next Week Held at High School

The high school will hold graduation exercises Wednesday night with forty seven students receiving diplomas.

Beaverhead County High and Normal College Hold Commencement

Commencement exercises for Beaverhead County High School and Normal College Training School are scheduled for next Wednesday. Forty seven high school graduates receive diplomas Wednesday evening and twenty eight eighth grade pupils earn certificates Wednesday afternoon. Rev H N Tragitt of St James Episcopal Church will give the high school address with invocations by Rev T J Simons. Diplomas are presented by Principal W W Wahl and conferred by J H Gilbert. Hiram Rundage leads as class president with Vir ginia Randolph delivering the valedictory and Cora Anderson the salutatory. A musical program includes processional and recessional by the high school orchestra and numbers by the girls glee club. The alumni dance follows Friday night at Dillmont Park.

May fete on campus to open tomorrow evening

Dillon hosts its annual May fete on the Normal college campus starting at 6 o clock tomorrow evening. Dozens of college students and training school pupils will participate in the event directed by Miss Constance Bregan, director of physical education.

High School Band Concert Opens Commencement Week

The annual spring concert by the high school music forces marks the first activity of commencement week. The May 26 event in the gymnasium features a violin duet and quartet, marimba solos with orchestral accompaniment, and a girls’ vocal sextette. Admission is free. program begins at 8 16 p.m.

County fair displays expand with merchant plans

Merchants arrange space in the First National Wool warehouse for the upcoming county fair in September. D. A. Galt maps the exhibit layout with a west end dance hall center concessions and side displays. Auxiliary members run the May 29 poppy sale to aid veterans and families.

Major Dansie Stars In State Track Meet Friday

Major Dansie of Beaverhead high school emerged as the meet’s standout performer at the state interscholastic track event. He broke a broad jump record, tied for high scoring honors with 12 points, and helped Dillon place in a tie for sixth with Anaconda.

Rotary Club Attends Bozeman Convention

Students Visit Implement Dealers For Farm Machinery Tour

Smith-Hughes agricultural students from Beaverhead county high school toured Dart Hardware and Implement and Paddock Tyre warehouses last Friday. John Deere representative lectured on farm implements while a Farmall tractor demonstration was given at Paddock Tyre for the visitors.

Flames Engulf North Pacific Street House Early Morning

Fire of unknown source heavily damaged a North Pacific Street house at an early hour. Occupant Mike Rebich reported, with interior flames destroying most furnishings and significant damage to the structure.

Mr and Mrs Roy Forrester and their two children left yesterday for a visit in San Francisco. They travel by car and will return with Mrs John Forrester, who has spent the winter in California.

Mrs Walter West Dies in Longview Washington

Mrs Walter West former Beaverhead county resident died in Longview Washington last Wednesday after a long illness. She was born in 1890 in Beaverhead county and was previously known as Miss Laura Guyat of Armstead. She received her education in the Dillon schools.

Madison County Abandons Fair Over Funds

Madison County officials decide not to hold a county fair this year citing a $2,000 fair fund and a estimated $6,500 cost to stage the event. No fair has taken place since 1928 due to funding shortfalls. Dr and Mrs F H Bimrose have traveled to California for a several week visit.

Pioneer Beaverhead resident William Henneberry dies at home

William F. Henneberry longtime Beaverhead county resident and Montana pioneer died suddenly at his Beaverhead home after a stroke. Born in Dubuque Iowa July 17 1859 he came to Montana in 1865 and moved to Barratt's in 1867. He attended Jesuit school in Los Angeles in 1869 and early Beaverhead valley schools. Beaverhead County primary gains momentum despite looming filing deadline

Beaverhead County races heat up as filings close June 14. Five of seven candidates have filed, with three seeking re election and Dan Mooney entering the sheriff race. Sheriff WwW. C. Orr already seeks renomination under the Democrat banner.
