School Days Theme of College Pageant at Montana State Normal
Montana State Normal presents its annual May Fete Friday at 8 p m in the Normal gym. The event features college and training school students in a School Days theme queen pageant under the Women's Athletic association supervision led by Miss Marjorie Hamer. Contributions come from art music and physical education departments with the Little Symphony orchestra directed by Ralph McFadden and a mixed quartet.

Beaverhead high school's track squad, winner of the district meet, placed third in the second annual Helena invitational with 16 points led by Cashmore. He won the javelin and scored in high jump, discus, and shot put totaling 14 points to edge Yovetich of Butte for top individual honors. Other Beaver scorers were Whipple and Tait as Butte won with 45 points, Helena second with 35, and Dillon also scoring in several events.

Early stage driver Alex Waugh dies at 78 in Dillon
Alex Waugh a former Lemhi county Idaho stage coach driver and mining entrepreneur died at his home on Railroad Avenue in Dillon after a yearlong illness at age 78. Born January 19 1860 in Peoria Illinois he moved west at nineteen and drove between Salmon and Junction Idaho later diversifying into mining with properties in Idaho and Montana. Survived by wife and two sons W D Waugh of Dillon and B J Waugh of Colton California his funeral was held Monday at Brundage chapel with Grace Methodist Church minister J A Meeke officiating and burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Purple Heart Award To Be Given Franks In Lima
E. C. Franks of Lima will receive the Purple Heart from Beaverhead post of the American Legion at a Lima meeting tomorrow night.
