Plans for the semi annual Beaverhead Federation of Women's Organizations convention are set for next Saturday. Delegates from county clubs will attend morning and afternoon sessions in the training school auditorium with Mrs Herman Mussigbrod presiding. Morning program includes speakers Mrs Minnie Lennis state federation president and Miss Luella Stickney Beaverhead health nurse. An Andrus hotel luncheon follows. Afternoon features entertainment numbers and a talk on Adult Education by W W Wahl.

Competition for Beaverhead Sheriff Grows in Primary
The race for Beaverhead County sheriff narrows to a heated primary with eight candidates. Funeral services for William Morrison held in Dillon
The funeral of the late William Morrison, a well known Dillon resident, was held Thursday afternoon from the home on South Idaho Street. The Rev. T. J. Simons of the Presbyterian church conducted the services, and interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

L P Phillips longtime Dillon resident dies at home after weeks of illness. Born in Princeton North Carolina in 1863 he moved to Beaverhead county in 1891 and ran a grocery store and contracting work. He served as police magistrate and justice of the peace in Dillon township.

Ruth Kelly Wins First In Contest
Ruth Kelly daughter of Attorney J E Kelly won first place in the regional Washington bicentennial oratorical contest at Butte. She will compete in Helena on May 27 for the state title. Virginia Randolph of Dillon won the college oratorical contest at Montana State Normal College and will compete in Missoula for the state title. Ayer Lightfoot of Bozeman placed second, with finalists John Strosky Belt and Duane Taft Loma. Randolph had earlier won the state bicentennial oratorical contest in Butte.

City Council Meets. inmates escape Beaverhead jail
Two inmates Emil Borgeson and Clonnie Roark escaped Beaverhead County Jail Sunday afternoon by sawing through a steel bar. They were recaptured nearby with Deputy Barry and J. T. Newnes guiding the arrest near Warm Springs ranch. The escape occurred while officers were away and details on where the saw came from remain unknown. The council held its regular May session and approved assorted bills as April officers began new terms.
