Beaverhead County Board Special Session 1911

Beaverhead county commissioners hold a special session April 29 1911 to review road viewer reports approve two petitions cross land in Sheep Creek basin and Reynolds ranch route changes. Bids for Reynolds road opened with €3800 3200 figures later rejected. new routes adopted on sectional lines. Painting and jail improvements approved and map updates planned with road straightening across the county.

Prominent Pioneer Citizen Al Graeter Dies at Midnight

Al K. Graeter, a Beaverhead County pioneer and longtime public servant, died at his Dillon room from pneumonia after a brief illness. Born August 11 1843 in Warren Ohio he migrated to Montana in 1863 and held sheriff clerk and probate judge posts before ranching and mining ventures. He leaves a wife Margaret French two children Warren and Grace, a brother and three sisters. Interment at Mountain View.

District Court Disposes Several Cases In Week

In a busy week the district court disposed multiple cases. A mal-practice suit by William Hayes against E R Ackley and H A Bond was dismissed after a non-suit motion. Chris Larson pleaded guilty to third degree assault in the Voshage case, receiving six months and a $500 fine. Ralph Glidewell was sentenced to one year for second degree burglary. John Curran vs Oregon Short Line also ended with a non-suit motion.

Dillon man Christopher Snyder arrested in San Francisco on opium smuggling charge

Dillon mining operator Christopher Snyder was arrested aboard the Manchuria in San Francisco on a federal opium smuggling charge. He reportedly traveled from Dillon after a world tour and faced a bail bond set at 1000 dollars with an examination scheduled for May 18.

Babe O Connell Dies in Dillon After Heart Failure

John Francis O Connell known as Babe O Connell died at 6 o clock last Sunday afternoon in Dillon at the Thompson lodging house. The death was caused by heart failure after a week with the malady. he fell on the street and cut his head. He was 84, a native of Ohio and raised in Bozeman where his parents live. He had been in Dillon about a year and was well known. Parents notified. two brothers arrived Monday to take his remains to Bozeman for interment.

City league ends in another league leaders win

Sunday's city league action saw the leaders prevail as Barry's team beat the dry goods squad 9 to 8. Sammy Patterson started for Eliel Bros but was yanked after three innings due to a rough day. Martin shut the door later as Eliel and rivals raked eleven and six hits respectively. Arbor Day game canceled by rain.

Old Folks Day Observed At Methodist Church
