Herder killed by train near First National Wool House

Lawrence Slattery, 61, a Beaverhead ranch herder, was struck by a southbound freight on the Oregon Short Line near Dillon's First National Wool Ware house and killed. Found Sunday by a transient, his legs were heavily injured and a skull fracture noted. Slattery, a Kentucky native on parole from Somerset prison for a shooting affray, had arrived from Rawlins, Wyoming. No relatives located.

Elks Lodge to Observe Mother’s Day Program

Dillon Elks Lodge to observe Mother's Day with a program at the training school auditorium tomorrow night at 8. Frank Venable of Butte will be the principal speaker, a past district deputy of Idaho and former exalted ruler of Wallace lodge. The Elks quartet and Baxter-Tonrey orchestra will perform, with several solos by Mrs. J. C. Jeppson and Dave Hier. Francis Gelhaus was elected exalted ruler at last night’s Dillon lodge election.

Obituary: Emmett E. Allison 65 Dies After Illness

Emmett E. Allison of Beaverhead county died after a long illness at Barrett hospital last Wednesday. Born July 28 1869 in Boonville Missouri, he moved to Dillon in 1901 and ranched for years. He served briefly on the Dillon police force and later lived at the county farm until retirement. A Rincon New Mexico brother arranged his funeral held Saturday.

Mrs. Vandegrift Dies at Son's Dillon Home

Beaverhead county matron Mrs. Jessie Vandegrift died yesterday afternoon at her son C. T. Vandegrift’s Dillon home after a two year illness. Born 1876 in Newdiggins Wisconsin she married Oscar W. Vandegrift in Bannack 1898. She came to Dillon in 1918 and remained, leaving many friends.
