The Dillon Choral club stages its annual spring concert in the high school auditorium directed by Mrs. W. G. Gilbert. A matinee for school children was held at Bagley school. Nine year old Donna Lee O Leary from Butte, known from Major Bowes, sings Only a Rose Italian Street Song and Indian Love Call along with other soloists and instrumentalists.

Beaverhead gunners lead the field as Lima stays undefeated with seven wins and two losses. Dillon Gun Club earns two victories with a 73, tying Havre and Butte Trap and Skeet for second as Ross Emerick, John Krause, Conrad Orr, and Tige Talent contribute scores. Beaverhead county high school will be represented by a large group at the state track meet in Missoula. Jo Ann Deputy, senior, named news editor of the high school edition of The Kaimin by Dean A L Stone, leads The Beaver weekly delegation along with Fay Kirkpatrick, John Wedum, Joe Taylor, and Stanley Bradley. Billings Poly Speaker Wins State Contest
J Parke Pennepacker Jr of Billings Polytechnic won the nineteenth annual state oratorical contest at the Normal college auditorium with United We Stand. Floyd Willey of Carroll college Helena placed second on Children and Democracy. Mary Jane Utter of Northern Montana Havre took third with A New Declaration of Independence. William Scott of State University won the state intercollegiate extemporaneous speaking contest on Where Will Democracies Be If Germany Wins, with Walter Niemi second and Howard Morse third. The program included additional speakers and musical numbers by Dorothy Hagler, Mary Hocking, and Evelyn Bieber.

Johnson Seeks Re election for Montana Supreme Court
Howard A. Johnson chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court filed on May 6 for re election. Elected in 1938 to fill the Sands vacancy he now runs for a full six year term on the non political judicial ballot after leading in the previous election contest.

Dillon Kiwanis charter presented at dinner event
Nearly 300 Kiwanis members and guests attended a banquet at the Normal college residence halls as the Dillon club received its charter. Earle N Genzberger of Butte presented the charter on behalf of District Governor John A. Keefe, with remarks on a new era of community achievement and service. George M Tash, a 76 year old Beaverhead county pioneer, died at his Dillon home after a long illness, having lived in the county for 56 years. He previously worked as ranch hand, stage driver, meat dealer, stockman, deputy sheriff and deputy U S marshal. He is survived by his wife Susan, son Dale, daughter Ruth, and two grandsons.

The Dillon Gun Club will stage its second registered shoot of the season at local traps on Sunday starting at 10 a m Pres Bob Barrett announced a large attendance is expected from Butte Sheridan Lima and nearby clubs A full program includes 100 16 yard singles 50 handicap and 25 doubles The shoot also marks the fifth Sunday of the Standards telegraphic tournament.

The Beaverhead County High School Mathematics Club held its second annual algebra and geometry contest. Betty Barry won the algebra event and will receive a sterling silver pin.
