Milwaukee branch line to Dillon eyed by Whitehall locals
Talk around Whitehall places a Milwaukee Road branch from Whitehall to Dillon via Twin Bridges under consideration. A Milwaukee Road representative reportedly began land negotiations for terminal facilities and a survey may start soon. If built, work could begin this season though steel might wait until the Pacific coast line is completed. The route would follow the Jefferson river to Twin Bridges and then through the Big Hole and Beaverhead valleys toward Dillon as the region ships abundant livestock.
