Montana graduates get extra help from state employment services

Montana college seniors will receive expanded job placement aid through a joint program by the Montana State Employment Service and the Veterans Employment Service. H. L. Hatton said offices are contacting colleges and employers to line up opportunities after graduation, though job funding is returning to prewar levels and competition will be tougher.

Interludes of Spring charity show opens cancer drive

Beaverhead chapter of the American Cancer Society presents Interludes of Spring a style and variety show on April 4 at 8 p m in the B C H S auditorium. Admission is free with a goodwill collection for the 1950 cancer fund drive. Performers include Dillon models college students Chet Conley Dan McKeel Freddie Taylor and Harriet Holzer high school students Carolyn McFadden Joan Smith and others with a large list of local entertainers providing entertainment.

Vodvil Show at Western Montana College of Education

Western Montana College of Education presents its annual Vodvil show Friday March 31 at 8 in the college auditorium. A parade of costumes through town Friday afternoon introduces the evening program with prizes for top costumes and skits. The Music club performs Jerome Kern Showboat scenes, with solo acts duets and group singing. Curtain acts include barber shop harmony by the men's quartet and pantomime by Bill James and Dick Disney. Two girls’ trios sing, and prizes go to the two best curtain acts. Proceeds go to Chi Nook, the college annual.

Ned Pilgrim returned home last Wednesday after hospitalization at Shodair since early November when he was stricken with polio. His progress is reported as very satisfactory.

Mrs. T. E. Luebben state regent and Mrs. J. Fred Woodside state secretary travel to Missoula for the Montana D.A.R. conference March 29 to 31. Beaverhead regent Mrs. T. F. McFadden and Miss Jean Bishop will attend as guests. Miss Bishop, president of the Montana Society of Sons and Daughters of the Montana Pioneers, is an honor guest. Trustees and 15 mill levy head to vote in District 10

Voters in School District No. 10 will select two trustees from Elliott Redman Malcolm Stone and Roscoe Cornell for vacancies of George Gosman and Roscoe Cornell. A 15 mill replacement levy for Dillon schools will also be on the ballot at Bagley school Saturday from 2 to 6 pm.

Ranchers Vote on Soil Conservation District Saturday

Beaverhead ranchers are asked to vote on Saturday April 1 to establish a soil conservation district in the Beaverhead valley. The district, run by five supervisors, aims to conserve soil and water with voluntary work and no tax power. Polling places include Dillon Courthouse RE 00m, Dell Community Hall, Armstead Postoffice Building, and Glen Postoffice Building. Polls open 12 noon to 5 pm.

Spring sports turnout sets record at Western
