Matron of City Dies in Beaverhead County
Mrs. Josephine C. Lauterbach, 77, longtime Beaverhead County matron and wife of Max Lauterbach, died at her South Washington home after a brief illness from a paralytic stroke. Born in Norway, she married in 1894 and moved to the county the next year. The county board of commissioners met as county license board and approved 18 beer license applications, forwarding affidavits of moral character to the state for final action.

Breeden Leads Normal Stars to Dillon Title at Great Falls
Brick Breeden coach of Montana State Normal College and Beaverhead county high school guided the Bulldogs to Dillon’s first state basketball crown since 1920 in the Montana independent cage tournament at Great Falls. The team, nicknamed the Normal stars, defeated the Butte Freebourns 43-39 in the final after earlier easy advances through the bracket, amid a field of 16 top independent quints.

Forester outlines Montana game resources at Dillon Rotary

Mrs. Fred Woodside of Dillon was named vice regent of the Montana Daughters of the American Revolution at the state convention in Great Falls. She previously served as state secretary. Concert by Beaverhead County Girls Impress Lima Audience
About 40 Dillon girls from Beaverhead county high school band and orchestra toured to Lima Friday night under the Lima Girl Scouts. Miss Aura Dutch er led the program while L. A. Gregory directed both groups. Betty Hall read a piece during the concert and the audience greatly enjoyed the program.

Motorists faced a week of increasing wrecks with scattered damaged vehicles along Beaverhead county roads. Dell Lloyd, a Dillon youth, drove a heavy county truck to be towed into Dillon after a break down, but escaped serious injury along with others.

Louis Schmittroth presented outdoor films at a American Legion gathering in Anaconda last Thursday night. The show featured a Salmon river canoe trip with Roy Forrester titled The River of No Return, plus hunting and other outdoor footage. Several hundred attendees were turned away due to crowd size.

Centennial Valley Faces Likely Grasshopper Plague
Centennial valley ranchers are urged to prepare for a possible surge of grasshoppers this year. The Montana State College experiment station reports that 1933 will resemble 1932 in grasshopper levels, with Beaverhead County’s Centennial valley expected to see a sharp rise despite control efforts in Lake and Flathead counties.
