Missing Dillon man feared dead after weeklong disappearance
Mike Shaffer a long time Poindexter Orr Livestock employee and Frenchman, disappeared from the home ranch over a week ago. He had been in Dillon on a heavy drinking spree and suffered delirium tremens. Carrying a lantern he left for the barn at night and has not been seen since. Searches of premises and surrounding canyons yielded no trace, and it is feared he wandered into the hills and perished from exposure. He is about 45, swarthy, short and heavy set with a sandy mustache.
