Lambs unborn for next fall from Beaverhead and Madison counties are being contracted at record high prices. About 90 percent of 1947 lambs are already contracted at 16 to 18 cents, with scarcity of sheep boosting feeder lamb prices for fall delivery. Freight and fattening costs add to the high price, making cheap lamb chops unlikely.
