Two caucuses are slated in Dillon this week. Tonight at the Normal Training School auditorium a school caucus will nominate candidates for school trustee. J. H. Gilbert and A. L. Stone are the outgoing trustees. Tomorrow at City Hall auditorium a city council caucus will nominate alderman candidates for four wards. Outgoing aldermen are Louis Anderson Leonard Eliel Perry Bowers and A. F. Waldorf.

Cantata Pleases Packed High School Audience
The Garden of Flowers cantata led by Mrs Thurman and assisted by Miss Numbers drew a full house at the high school. The program included orchestra, string quartet, glee club and a girl’s quartet as fundraising to send participants to the state contest. Mrs Thurman will supervise the group and Daisy Moran will accompany to Big Timber.

Easter Preparations At Methodist Presbyterian Church
With Easter approaching the church fosters devotion. The Sunday school grows in interest and attendance as public services deepen. On March 26 the pastor speaks on Your Calling in the morning and Moral and Christian Application of the Bonus in the evening. Dr J F Shepherd of Great Falls aids the local pastor as nightly meetings begin April 2 through Easter.

Breaker at Forsgren Grocery. Small Theft Suspected
The Forsgren grocery was entered last Monday night. Four dollars were taken from the cash register while the stock remained largely intact. Entry was gained via a rear window broken in the car and it is thought to be the work of boys.

Jail Sentence For Lima Bunkhouse Larceny
Jack Shelton was brought to Dillon by Railroad Detective Moser on a charge of entering a bunkhouse at Lima and stealing clothes and other items. He pled guilty in district court and Judge Smith sentenced him to one to three years in the state prison. He accepted the sentence, indicating it was his desired outcome.

Delightful recital by pupils of L A Gregory at Normal school
Monday night’s program at the Normal training school auditorium featured piano and violin pieces, two violin numbers by Frances Dunn who will represent the local high school at the state contest in Big Timber, a violin quartet, string quartet and a cello solo by Muriel Paddock. The quartette’s number and other performances were well rendered and will also enter the state competition.

Not Guilty Verdict in Armstead Hotel Case
Mrs. Elmer Gordon who runs the Armstead hotel faced trial in the justice court on a charge of working more than eight hours a day. Mrs. Joan Thomas testified as the complaining witness. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

Road conditions hamper shipment from Butte to Armstead
Lee Hoerning reports bad roads making a truck load of merchandise in transit from Butte to Armstead possibly tomorrow. He said the truck left Butte for Armstead but impassable routes blocked progress and noted the Fleecer Inn at Feeley burned to the ground en route to Dillon.

Liquor Law Sweep Nets Seven Arrests and Fines
Local raids on The Buffet Corner establishment and the Morrow rooming house led to seven arrests after deputies and police found moonshine pints whiskey glasses and a towel saturated with alcohol. Four men pled guilty paying fines of 150 each. two others pleaded not guilty and were held on bonds. Hugh Climer faced 2500 bond after arraignment on liquor law charges.

The Dillon debating team defeated Anaconda 2 to 1 to win the district championship and earn two spots in the state finals during Missoula track meet week in May. Captain Tom Olmsted led Dillon. Anaconda’s top speaker was Miss Dee Shannon.

Sheriff Seizes Large New Moonshine Still in Montana Gulch
Sheriff Mooney and Undersheriff Ross battled snowdrifts to uncover a brand new moonshine operation in a concealed gulch near McCarthy mountain, twenty miles from Dillon. They found a new cabin, a copper still, asbestos covering, zinc container, a 1500 gallon mash, and two jugs of moonshine labeled white mule. Philmore Murphy, maker of the liquor, pleaded guilty and was jailed on $250 bond. the system’s gear was destroyed or sent to Dillon for evidence.
