Beaverhead Post Burns Mortgage At Birthday Party

Beaverhead Post members and Auxiliary held a birthday party at the clubhouse Saturday night with nearly 150 in attendance. The highlight was the burning of the mortgage by both units. Commander Anthony Brams presided. Paul Temple led the event as the post’s top recruiter. Guests included Phil Lyons of Butte and Tom McCaryell from Anaconda. About 235 members have signed up, with 15 to go to full quota. Auxiliary gifts funded the clubhouse, totaling $1,000.

Four BCHS Students Join National Westminster Assembly Trip

Four Beaverhead County high school students are selected by the Westminster Fellowship Council to represent their church Helena Presbytery and the Synod of Montana at the fourth National Westminster Fellowship Assembly in Grinnell Iowa from June 26 to July 3. They will travel with Montana delegates and join Washington and Oregon groups for a study tour afterward.

Fund Started to Memorialize Air Crash Victim

A memorial fund for Reed Payne, 14, and other Dillon victims of the Pleasant Valley Idaho air crash was begun with a doubles basketball fundraiser at the high school gym. The February 26 crash also claimed pilot Don Smith, Dillon attorney Weldon Payne, his wife Anna Lou, and their four month old daughter.

Jurors Mailed Notices for April Term Here

A district court juror pool of 125 was summoned for the April term as notices were mailed by Sheriff John MacDonald.
