The winter quarter commencement at Montana State Normal College in the college auditorium awarded diplomas to 18 two year students and conferred one degree from Whitehall schools. Superintendent Roy M. Austin of Whitehall delivered the commencement address, and President Sheldon H. Davis conferred the diplomas and degrees as the women’s glee club performed an a cappella number with a soprano solo by Mar.

Hay rack overturns killing Ralph Bulla near Dillon
Ralph Bulla, a longtime Dillon resident, died when his hay rack overturned four miles west of Dillon on a Saturday afternoon. Investigators noted the load shifted after wheels sank in soft dirt, likely causing a skull fracture. He was born October 7, 1878 in Albany Missouri and survived by a sister, a niece and a nephew. Funeral services were held at Brundage Chapel with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

An auction will be held at the C B Barnes ranch west of Dillon on the Big Hole road Thursday March 28 starting at 1 pm. Luther Surtth acts as auctioneer selling 42 head of cattle including 10 milk cows two registered jerseys 16 calves 15 yearlings and two registered bulls all beef fat. The stock horses sale at Dillon stock yards last Saturday was successful with most animals from Poin Dexter Orr and Selway Sheep Company ranches. Luther Smith was auctioneer.

Federal Agents Raid Several City Venues in Tax Evasion Sweep
Federal agents from the alcohol enforcement bureau visited multiple city sites last Thursday and arrested staff at the Crystal Bar on Center Street and the Buffet on Bannack Street for tax evasion. Montana farmers receive nearly ten million in federal payments
Montana farmers in government production adjustment programs had earned 9.95 million dollars in rental and benefit payments through January 31, 1935. Wheat led with about 9.60 million, followed by corn-hogs at 351 thousand. Chateau county led beneficiaries, with Hills, Fergus, and Roosevelt also high. The state seed list for 1935 was mailed to county agents, urging full use of Montana registered seed supplies to build stock for future years.
