The winter quarter commencement at Montana State Normal College awarded two degrees and 28 two year diplomas. M P Moe of the Montana Education association gave the address. Degrees were presented by President Sheldon B. Davis to Gladys Lavell Garr of Dell and Anthony F Murphy of Jordan.

The St Patrick's dance will be held at the city hall auditorium Saturday night under the DNlon Business and Professional Women's club. An audience packed the Normal college auditorium for the Little Symphony orchestra annual concert directed by Miss Frances Robinson. Dillon’s liquor store will be ready for occupancy within two weeks. BE. L. Poindexter is appointed vendor and Ed Miller of the Big Hole basin is named assistant. Poindexter arranged for initial liquor shipments in Helena and two truckloads will stock the store. Prices match other state controlled Montana stores. The site is the former Sam Arndts hardware building on North Idaho street.

Comete at Deer Lodge Circus Hosted by Rainbow Girls
Rainbow Girls of Dillon sponsored the annual circus at the high school gym drawing a large crowd. Mary Hester Decker crowned Rainbow Queen with Mona Harding as maid of honor. proceeds over 100 dollars fund a crippled child’s summer camp. The main show featured the high school band led by L. A. Gregory and a performance including song and play with listed soloists and a rhythm band. Beaverhead county high school Future Farmers chapters competed in a district meet in Deer Lodge with rifle, stock judging, shop, basketball events. several winners and teams were named among participants.

Frank A. Hazelbaker came home Sunday from a month in Washington D C to work on the Lima dam project funded by federal loans. He interviewed several notable figures and reported construction is progressing with completion expected in a few weeks and a large crew at work. The Dillon Parent Teachers Association invites mothers and daughters and teachers to a mother and daughter party at the high school on March 23 at eight o'clock.

Four Winners Named in Local Bridge Tournament
The World Bridge Olympic winners were named by the international committee in a letter to Mrs. Guy D. Combes and Mrs. George M. Gosman who organized the local event. North-South winners were Dr. W. Normal Debate Season Opens With Two Wins
Montana State Normal college debate squads opened their season with two victories over the School of Mines on Wednesday in Helena and Intermountain Union on Thursday, then lost to a Montana State college team in Bozeman on Friday. The topic asked if presidential powers should be substantially increased as policy. The affirmative team of Bernard Thomas, George Johnson, Mark Vander Ark and Viola Erickson won by audience decision, while freshman Mary Corcoran and Mildred Spaberg defeated Intermountain’s freshmen two to one.

Dillon Man Represents Gov. Cooney at Western Governors Meet
W G Gilbert a Dillon attorney stockman and Montana Woolgrowers' president left for Salt Lake City to represent Governor F H Cooney at a western states governors conference. Two Arrests In Beaverhead Jail Escape
Bert Bergin escaped from Beaverhead county jail last Saturday night while Undersheriff James A. McCollum was bringing in the evening meal. He fled through the courthouse yard before pursuit, and has not been recaptured. Bergin was held on petty larceny, suspected of robbing a sheep camp on the Leslie Staudenmeyer ranch near Blaine. Sheriff Orr suspects he may be wanted elsewhere on a more serious charge.

Basin Ranch Hand Elmer Pickett Dead at 68
Elmer Pickett a 68 year old Big Hole basin ranch hand was found dead near Jackson last Thursday. Coroner James B Phillips ruled heart attack the cause. He had lived in the basin about 30 years and is survived by a brother and two sisters, with one sister in Anaconda. Funeral services were held Monday at Brundage Funeral Home with Rev J A Meeke of Grace Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
