E Thompson Pioneer of Beaverhead County Dies
Edmund G. Thompson aged 69 a Beaverhead county resident since infancy died at his home on Kentucky Avenue after a long illness. He worked in mines on dredge boats and owned mining properties. Surviving are his wife. Installation of Beaverhead’s first dredge boat in years progresses on Grasshopper creek with materials unloaded at Barrett station and transported by 16 wheelers. A Bozeman firm handles transport funded by eastern capital aiming to revive the region’s mining industry.

Dillon Man Wins Second in Western Rainbow Trout Contest
Howard Rosenau of Dillon won second prize in Field and Stream’s twenty seventh annual national contest in the western Rainbow trout division. He landed a 14 pound rainbow, 33 inches long, in the Big Hole river last August, believed the region’s largest fish of the season. The award includes $50 in merchandise from Field and Stream advertisers.

Musical Program At Last Assembly Delights Local Crowd
The assembly program in the auditorium last Wednesday featured the Men's Glee Club with twenty members performing Indian Summer Song of the Desert and The Trumpeter. The mixed quartet Janet Smith Helen Sprout Kenneth Barry and Jack Veltkamp offered Meow Meow and Cuckoo Dear. The Women’s Glee Club of fifty five singers presented Allah’s Holiday You Is Jes as Sweet Nymphs and Fauns and Italian Street Song. The Little Symphony Orchestra closed the program with a performance by the orchestral group.

Hazelbaker Heads to G O P National Sessions in Chicago
Frank A. Hazelbaker Montana Republican leader and two time gubernatorial candidate traveled to Chicago to join sessions of the national program on committee of the Republican Party. Burt Draws Seven Years Court Here
Pete Burt of Butte was sentenced to seven years in state prison by Judge Henry G. Rodgers after pleading guilty to burglary. He was taken to Deer Lodge the same day by Undersheriff John Troupe. His brother Harry Burt pleaded guilty last week but has not been seen as yet. Baylous Williams and Dock Combes, Birch Creek CCC Youths, drew 60 days in the county jail after pleading guilty to petty larceny for breaking into several summer cabins on Birch Creek.
