Beaverhead County High School wins district hoops and awards
Beaverhead County High School finished second in the mining district basketball tournament at Missoula, trailing Missoula and ahead of Dillon in the standings. Tom Olmsted placed second in extemporaneous speaking and will represent the local high school in the state contest at Bozeman. The Dillon squad defeated Jefferson County 44 to 18 and edged Anaconda 12 to 10 to reach the state event. The team, led by Coach Knudsen, will depart March 7 for Bozeman with a strong chance to place.

Montana counties must refund the $3 bachelor tax to unmarried men who apply correctly, after the Montana Supreme Court declared the poll tax unconstitutional. Sheriff Dan Mooney received a note from prison guard W G Green claiming an officer wanted Casey removed from a train south of Dillon. Another Horse Sale March 11 Yet Another Sale Noted
Severe weather did not dampen the mid winter horse auction last Saturday. Prices were better than recent times though few horses were sold and none left the county. One team brought 260 dollars. Buyers from outside showed interest but held on, citing continued bad weather. George Ditty, manager of the Dillon Horse Sales, announced another one day sale for Saturday March 11 focusing on horses only.
