The Gophers beat the Beavers and Badgers to climb from the cellar as rain interrupted the Beavers in the sixth inning. Monday’s race-like win showed speed from the Gophers, with upcoming match against the league leading Bunnies expected to draw a big crowd.
A leading musical event of the year is promised as three Dillon youths Ralph McFadden piano Lester Op cello and Grace Little violin perform a recital July 7 at the training school auditorium. All studied under Dillon instructor L A Gregory and the program features difficult master pieces.
Lee Tower and C D McKown bought the Lobby pool hall on North Montana street and will run the amusement resort in the future. They plan changes and additions to make it one of the area’s most popular spots in this section of the state.
John Geiser of Wise River and Gus Geiser of Harlowton were Dil lon visitors yesterday, gathering with local residents and shown around town by hosts.
Dillmont Park manager Bud McGrath plans a large July Fourth event with a safe family day. Activities include multiple foot races, contests, dancing by Baxter Tonney orchestra, and a prize waltz. Prizes total 225 dollars plus a 25 dollar family prize, with food served all day and evening refreshments. Local banks and businesses donate funds to support the celebration.

A venue change motion was filed in the Zurich case seeking transfer from Silver Bow to Beaverhead.
Clerk and Recorder John Baker said those reaching majority (21) by August 29 can vote if they register by August 14. He urged timely registration to avoid lines and delay, noting turnout from those not voting previously has been slower.

Harry Clark, about 35 and unmarried, was brought to Dillon from a sheep shearing camp at Alder, fell ill with typhoid, died the next day at Curtis hospital. Funeral held Sunday with interment in Mountain View cemetery. He had partnered with a man named Preste in the sheep shearing business. Preste and crew came to Dillon to arrange the funeral.
Scores of Col Nolan’s friends learned of his death in Butte after a brief illness last Saturday. He practiced in Dillon during his career and counted many well known people among his clients and admirers, leaving the community deeply saddened.
A Dillon group will travel to Sheridan on the Fourth for the nation’s birthday celebration. A large program of sports with wild west stunts horse racing and other attractions is planned for the event.
Sam Williamson received word that his sister Sallie Williamson died in southern California. She was one of Dillon's first teachers, taught about thirty years ago at the public school, and was 66 years old at death. The cause of death was not learned.
Chris Hansen will assume duties as mail carrier between this city and Jackson with intermediate points starting the first of the month. He won the contract months ago and has purchased two mail trucks from A. L. Anderson who held the route for thirty two years except for one six year period.
William Orr Jr captured two young bald eagles near the Poindexter and Orr ranch. The birds were sent to John Wharton, manager of Columbia Gardens.
Dillon Masons report a Knights Templar conclave will be held in Bill Jon early in June next year with Dillon as the meeting site. Delegates Jack Nemeck George Dart and George Featherly said the session in Missoula last week was a splendid affair and the organization’s work was impressive. Newly elected officers include J W Selden J M Burlingame F W Haskins J G Brown C W Ling J J Hindson Cornelius Hedges Jr.
Judge J C Smith named R B McClintock receiver for the Madison State Bank at Virginia and the State Bank of Twin Bridges after both closed doors. McClintock left for Twin Bridges to begin duties and will be joined by his wife and young daughter. B N Stevenson becomes cashier at Beaverhead State Bank.
The annual Legion picnic at Dillmont park on the 16th features a complete and up to date radio outfit as the main attraction. An afternoon and evening radio entertainment precedes the presentation of the prize to the ticket holder.
Dillon trapshooters returned from Butte with top honors as Nick Birrer won the state championship and the Dillon squad posted the highest average at 96 percent. C C Thornton claimed the Brownlee medal in a shoot off, also winning the Montana State handicap with 96 of 160, sharing the Manhattan Team Cup title with Hiram Brundage and O'Brien of Butte. The delegation included Mrs. Thornton Mrs. Brundage and Mrs. Magnus among others.
