Lightning Toll in County Claims Two More Victims
Severe storm feared to have struck several ranches in the Upper Horse Prairie and Sage Creek areas. John Denny and Samuel Lipps were killed by a lightning strike while working and herding near the Gilman and Burden properties. Denny, 25, married to Nellie Meed, left a wife and children. Lipps, born April 4, 1866 in Pinney Tennessee, was a Maso in good standing. funeral services were held at Mountain View Cemetery.

Fourth of July Celebration at Dillmont Park
The Dillmont community plans a full Fourth of July program with afternoon and evening dancing, a tin program, and a picnic lunch under shade trees. A big sports day features baseball double headers Beavers vs Badgers and Bunnies vs Gophers, with contests for all ages. The full schedule will be printed next week.

McFadden and Opp to Appear in July 7 Recital
Dillon readers will hear Ralph McFadden and Lester Opp in a recital at the Normal training school auditorium on July 7. They recently returned from Warren Ohio where they studied at the Dana Institute of Music. McFadden, finishing his third year at the conservatory, is a skilled pianist. Opp completes his second year and has performed with Warren’s leading orchestra.

Large Enrollment At Normal Summer Session
The Normal college opened its summer session with the largest attendance in its history. By Monday night more than 600 students had enrolled and the total for the summer is expected to exceed 800. Dormitories and city housing are filled, with about 50 men joining the current session the highest male turnout yet. A six week kindergarten and eight weeks training school will accompany the term along with lectures and trips.

Rotary Club Talks Pool for Boys and Camping Grounds
At the weekly Rotary luncheon the group discussed creating a city swimming pool with a trained instructor and two proposed sites. American Legion Plans July Outing At Dillmont Park
At a regular meeting the American Legion confirmed the July 16 outing at Dillmont park with a radio outfit and flour prizes as attractions. A field and track program will be followed by a Baxter Tonrey orchestra dance. The group also voted to abandon Elk Horn Springs lease and launch a county wide membership drive starting July 1.

The Beaverhead County Commission met in regular session on June 5 1928 with Chairman J E Shaw and commissioners O C Gosman and A L Anderson present. They read May minutes, discussed repairing impassable road between the railroad crossing and the old Van Camp river bridge, and set a special session for June 26 to tour roads review land classifications and consider Browne Lane petition. They appointed viewers and discussed road changes, petitions by local residents, and county agent funding via a seven tenths mill levy.

Moon Moonshine Case: Blivens Pleads Guilty in Local Raid
Sheriff Mooney and Undersheriff Ross found a 126 gallon still on C C Blivens ranch at Medi canyon last Friday. The still named Bleven is linked to a prior seizure in Axe's canyon. Twenty barrels of mash and a barrel of white moon were destroyed. Blivens pled guilty in Justice court and paid a $100 fine.

Bunnies Edge Badgers In Twilight League Thriller
The Bunnies led 18-11 over the Badgers in a high error game. Badgers outhit, but costly miscues doomed them. Beavers beat Badgers 16-8 last Thursday before darkness ended the game early. Manager Gosman reports lineup changes and predicts a strong game next.

Funeral Held For Roy Given In Dillon
The funeral for Roy Given was held Monday afternoon at Brundage Undertaking parlors with interment at Mountain View cemetery. Born in Ohio, he was 84 and died of heart trouble after moving to California for health reasons. He is survived by his wife two children and other relatives.
