After finishing work in Beaverhead county the mobile tuberculosis X ray unit moves to Madison county with Twin Bridges as first stop. The $25 000 unit was open four days in Dillon and one day at the college, screening 1874 people while Wisdom and Lima stops added to a total of 2503 examined.

The Bea verhead 4 H club and F F A completed a weekend show and sale at the county fairgrounds selling 57 calves for a total of 12840 dollars. County Agent Henry Mikkelsen oversaw the event which drew about 500 attendees. Highest bid of 155 per pound came from Bert Stansky for a Smokey Paddock calf later resold for 1060 dollars with donations added to a 4 H fund.

Miss Mary Dougherty of the Beaverhead department of public welfare said the county seeks boarding homes for children from infancy to eighteen years. Children are not up for adoption and will be paid board to cover basic needs. Welfare workers will aid families while final responsibility rests with the county. Six Beaverhead Boys Selected for Boys State
Six junior boys from Beaverhead County High School were chosen to attend the American Legion’s first annual Boys State at Montana State Normal College campus August 10 to 19. Betty Jean Austin of Caldwell Idaho died from injuries after being trampled by a horse at her home. She lived a few hours after the incident. College Trip to Deer Lodge Planned for Saturday
About 50 Montana State Normal college students will travel to Deer Lodge and Warm Springs Saturday, June 28. Director Red Honeychurch says the trip, sponsored by the college, is the first of the summer session tours. Cars depart Dillon at 9:30 AM for lunch in Deer Lodge, with a stop at Warm Springs on the return. Other tours this summer include Bannack Virginia City Butte and Anaconda and Lewis and Clark cave.

Delegates Return From 4 H Encampment At Camp Rotary
Delegates to the 4 H encampment at Camp Rotary Neihart returned Friday after four days with boys and girls over 14 and county agents from western Montana. Miss Dorothy Embleton accompanied the group along with Marilyn Gordon Armstead and Chester Downing Riverside. They joined panel discussions on leadership and recreation and completed handicraft courses. The training will be shared at Beaverhead county club meetings at Birch Creek ranger station on June 10 July 1 and 2.

Herbert Wheat, local county agriculture conservation representative, attended the range conference at Miles City June 17 18 and 19. The event focused on range research management and conservation with methods for determining range condition trend and utilization discussed to promote uniform supervision of range management under the AC program.
