Beaverhead July Selectees Held Saturday Night Send Off
Beaverhead July selectees, their families and Dillon servicemen furloughed, will attend a community send-off at city hall Saturday night June 26. The social committee will host a dance with numbers and a door prize as Hayess Baxter's orchestra provides music. Selectees and in town servicemen will be presented during the evening before June 30 local board appearance and July 1 medical in Butte.

State Welfare board outlines $100000 evacuation program
At the state county commissioners meeting the Welfare board discussed a $100,000 evacuation fund to aid emergencies for evacuating women and children from coastal towns. Dr J A Meeke retires after 12 years in Dillon ministry
After twelve years serving the Dillon Methodist Episcopal church Dr. J A Meeke preached his farewell sermon. He and Mrs Meeke thanked the Dillon community for Christian kindness and friendship while noting his long career across Beaverhead county and Montana. He plans to visit his five children after leaving Dillon.

Dillon grade school children watched city workmen install new playground equipment at both primary and Bagley schools. The gear will stay for two to three years while the city completes the new children's park, funded by a campaign two years prior. The primary site got a climbing dome a merry go round and a big slide, while Bagley will add swings.

Eighth Grade State Exam Winners in Beaverhead County
Six Beaverhead rural students passed the state eighth grade exam with Mary Long scoring 94.4 percent the top mark followed by Darwin Peterson 88.2 and Dorothy Rebish 86.3. Three seventh grade students Raymond Belston Frances Simms and Diana Mills also passed. Francis Simms led seventh grade with 92.8 percent. Beaverhead County calls for new registration steps for absent voters. County Clerk Albert S. Baker outlines that servicemen and women can obtain registration cards, fill them out, and return them to the county office. Defense workers must apply for their own cards, have them sworn before a notary, and backed by county residents who attest to signatures. About 1,350 registrants were removed from the rolls for not voting or using absent ballots.

Following the REA recommendation and user vote the Vigilante Electric corporation shifts from Twin Bridges to the Southern Montana Abstract building on Bannack street. 383 of 448 ballots favored the change, with 65 against. The Dillon sub-station serves 456 of 608 users across 217 miles of lines. three other sub-stations cover 146 users and 54 miles. The course covers first aid safety radio map reading compass pacing aerials fire detection lookout duties smoke chasing law enforcement fighting tactics camp setup and related fire control topics.
