Big Hole River Claims Victim Again Friday
Treacherous waters of the Big Hole River claimed their fourth victim in as many years Friday night when Joseph A. Macioroski, 26, drowned while swimming with two companions near Glen. A searching party recovered the body early Saturday morning including Sheriff Paul Temple and others.

Poindexter Named Beaverhead American Legion Commander
Dr M Poindexter a World War I veteran who served in both British and American forces was unanimously elected commander of Beaverhead post American Legion last Thursday. Luther Smith was elected vice commander with E W Bond as finance officer and C A Bechler as executive committeeman.

Mrs Nick Staudaher Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs Nick Staudaher, 65, formerly of Dillon, died in Butte Thursday after a lingering illness. Born September 27, 1874, in Long Prairie Minnesota, she moved to Dillon in 1895, married in 1900, and later moved to Butte. Survived by son Fred Staudaher of Bozeman, daughter Mrs Holly Shranger of Butte, three brothers, two sisters, and five grandchildren. Rosary at Brundage chapel Friday, funeral Saturday at St Rose Catholic Church, Rev F X Lechner officiating. Interment Mountain View cemetery.

County Registration Increase Over 1938 in Beaverhead
Beaverhead county reports 3 639 registered electors for the July primary up from 3 381 in 1938. Seven of 21 precincts show slight declines while most rise. A Dillon rotary club picnic featured Hans Pfund of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Portland as speaker on home ownership. Wool buyers contracted about 2,000,000 pounds in Beaverhead district with 98 percent of clip taken from the sheep. Prices topped at 32 cents, and most wool will be handled through the First National Wool warehouse.
