Free Trappers Raid California for 400 Horses Expedition
The Free Trappers of the Rocky Mountains forged 14 men including Killbuck La Bonte and Kit Carson on a daring raid from the Yellowstone region to southern California. They seized 400 horses at San Fernando and returned via Bent's Fort, facing sieges by Indians and Mexican riders, with brutal fights at Taos and on desert trails.
