Montana board of equalization reports May tax receipts totaling 688,896.75 up 63,072.37 from May 1940. Gasoline tax led with 599,374.63. corporate licenses followed at 79,257.29, plus smaller sums from coal cement theater income and other categories.
Calgary Exhibition and Stampede officials announced the 56th event will run July 7 to 12. Ninety Italian officers and 162 seamen joined about 840 already at Fort Missoula, coming from interned Italian ships. Fifteen more seamen were due from Seattle, raising total detainees to just over 1,000. The Italian government set up a consulate in New York to safeguard the detainees' interests.
