Pioneer Woman Dies After Four Decades of Frontier Life
Mrs. Josephine Abrams a Montana pioneer dies in Dillon at four a m after pneumonia. Born August 20 1840 in Carlyle Illinois she journeyed from Utah to Montana with her husband James Abrams prospering as a prospector miner and rancher. They settled on Grasshopper Creek Beaverhead County and later retired to Dillon. Funeral held Monday at the Episcopal church with interment in Mountain View cemetery.

Work Resumed on New High School Gymnas ium
Construction on the new high school gymnasium restarted after delays due to material shortages. A J Rife has completed wiring while lighting fixtures contract is pending. Georgia Tong former resident of this county died suddenly at her Seattle home last Saturday night. She was born in Butte about eighty years ago and lived in the Big Hole basin with her mining family. Survived by her mother two sisters Mrs Gilster of Seattle and Mrs Roe of Bedrock and a brother Arthur in Seattle's fruit industry.

Lima prepares a citywide Fourth of July program with a Calithumpian parade led by the Goddess of Liberty at 9 80 a m, prizes for parade features, a patriotic program hosted by County Attorney Ros Stephenson, athletic contests with 500 prize pool, an aeroplane flight by C J Schoemaker of Lima, a Lima baseball game, and an evening dance with proceeds funding prizes. Escaped Prisoner Leaps From Moving Train
L H McLean escaped custody during a morning transfer on a train between Melrose and Brownes station at about 25 mph. Jail guardian Jasper Burgess carried on toward Dillon and reported no recapture by noon after the escape from the rear of the car.

Knife Duel Between Colored Men Ends with Lacerations
Carl Powell and Philip Ford, both described as colored, fought a duel after Powell, armed with a hatchet, injured Ford and Powell was later found to be armed with a case knife. Ford struck Powell, Powell fled, both were arrested and floated out of town. Powell had been released from county jail for violating the Donlan act and promised to leave for Odgen but returned.

Summer Session In Full Swing At Normal College
The Normal College hosts a record summer session with about 200 students in three divisions. Enrollment includes 40 in graduate teacher training, 100 pursuing state teaching certificates, and 80 in other studies. Penmanship classes led by Miss Stella Henderson draw heavy demand, and the training school kindergarten program exceeds capacity. President Monroe spoke at Billings graduation about the new high school and large crowd.

Mrs Dirk Holcomb dies after six month illness
Mrs Dirk Holcomb died of blood poisoning in St James hospital Butte at 1 50 pm yesterday on the second anniversary of her marriage to Dirk Holcomb of Dillon. She was 83, survived by her husband a six month old child a Seattle sister and three brothers. Funeral plans not yet fixed likely Friday. The body was brought to Dillon from Butte this morning.
