Masonic Secretary W H Dorchester Laid To Rest In Dillon
Graveside services were held at Mountain View cemetery for W H Dorchester Dillon lodge No 16 A F and A M charter member and first secretary. Dorchester died in Anaconda Saturday night after living there 40 years as treasurer of the brick department at Anaconda Copper Mining Co retired four years ago. He was a New York native who came to Dillon soon after the town’s founding in 1880.

Purebred Hereford Sale Again To Be Held Here
Dillon's purebred Hereford sale, held last fall for the first time, is assured again this year after Dillon Chamber of Commerce action. Leonard Schulz, livestock committee chair, will lead arrangements with W S Tash, Frank Pendleton, W W Hawkins, George Harrison and Lester Schulz assisting. The committee will meet at County Agent Bernard Williams's office next Wednesday. The board also discussed Beaverhead county publicity pamphlet distribution.

Protest Against New Big Hole Road Route
The proposed re routing of the Big Hole road from Ralston up Mill creek has drawn strong opposition from the Big Hole Road association Beaverhead county commissioners and Dillon Chamber of Commerce members. They met with the Butte Chamber of Commerce last Wednesday and prepared a unanimous formal objection to the Bureau of Public Roads in Washington D C.

Two Injured in Saturday Night Auto Crashes
Miss Prudence Duncan and Robert Branch were treated at Barrett hospital after Branch's car left the highway north of the city. Mrs Branch escaped injury and the car was badly damaged. In a separate crash near Chamberlain South Carolina Mrs Conrad Orr and children Conrad Jr Sharon and Miss Mary Castles escaped serious injury as their car overturned en route to Sioux Falls and Columbia University summer plans were noted.

Herbert P. Kakuske Montana State Normal college athletic coach since 1933 resigns effective spring. He will become assistant engineer for the City of Janesville Wisconsin and move with his family. During five years at the college he produced championship basketball and baseball teams and built the Bulldog program.

Beaverhead Men Attend Field Meet in Idaho
Beaverhead County men inspected the intermountain forest and range experiment station at Dubois Idaho during annual field days held last Thursday and Friday. Visitors included Howard Morse Guy D Combes Ike Rife W W Hawkins County Agent Bernard Williams W B Willey and K D Fleck. The tour covered range management practices grazing rotation and sage brush removal plus a breeding program for two new sheep breeds the Columbia and the Targhee. Wool exhibits were shown to about 200 people from Oregon Utah Idaho Wyoming Montana and Canada.

Nine Weeks Term Opens At College
Montana State Normal college opened its summer term with about 200 students registered and regular classes starting after registration day. An ungraded room for early grades is run at the training school under Miss Melissa Minger, with art nature study and playground activities. Miss Ernestine Jarussi of Red Lodge is named textbook librarian for the term and will graduate at summer’s end.

New Grasshopper Mining District Given Once-Over

The Dillon Elks Lodge held its annual Flag Day exercises on the courthouse lawn with a large crowd in attendance. Howard A. Johnson, prominent Butte attorney, delivered the address, while Theo. F. Junior team meets Butte here tonight in three game series
Dillon's American Legion junior baseball squad, touted as the best locally, hosts Butte in the opening game of a three game set. A prior 4 3 loss to Idaho Falls featured ace pitching by Allan Bradley with 13 strikeouts and four in the fifth inning after a hit by error. Nine Dillon runners left on base amid multiple errors.

The Dillon Chamber of Commerce will assist the Beaverhead Mining Association in arranging the Montana Mining Association convention in August. William Logan chairs the committee and says rooms and transportation will be organized. Plans include rock drilling and mucking contests with generous prizes and a trip to the Argenta mining district and Ermont mine on the second day.
