Beaverhead county gains John H. Mikkelson as the new county extension agent arriving in Dillon to start duties. He previously served over a year as Granite county extension agent. F. A. Ralston, Beaverhead’s prior agent, becomes extension livestock specialist based in Bozeman following a three year tenure. He succeeds E. P. Orcutt as livestock specialist and is a Beaverhead native and Montana State college graduate.

Dillon Boys Hit by Truck While Fishing
Thornley Dart 11 and Herbert Wengel 12 were seriously injured Friday afternoon when struck by a truck driven by Ivan Patterson as they fished from a river bridge north of Dillon. Dart suffered multiple injuries and is recovering at a Butte hospital. Wengel has a head wound and other injuries at home. Patterson faced a $25 bond for driving without a permit and investigation continues.

Funeral of Mrs Steve Lasich Held in Dillon
The funeral for Mrs. Steve Lasich, pioneer Beaverhead County resident who died in Los Angeles, was held Saturday morning at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rev Father Timothy Clifford celebrated requiem high mass and interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery with pallbearers Joe Mautz L G Staudenmeyer George Lasich Matt Platt J E Kelly and Gus Mailey.

The Presbyterian church will observe Children’s Day next Sunday with a 11 am Sunday school program at church hour. Dillon Legion Nine Loses First Two Games
Dillon Legion nine opened the season with two heavy defeats to Butte, 24 to 3 and 8 runs in the final innings after trailing 5 to 1. Dillon pitchers Cop pin, Chuck Davis and Hatton struggled as Butte’s Lowney Coleman Kasai and Leopold earned the win. Committee officials to act during the coming year as representing Beaverhead chapter D A R have been appointed by Mrs. Fred Woodside, newly elected president. Members cover Americanism, American Indian, Angel Island, approved schools, flag use, D A R magazine, museum liaison, genealogical records, historical research, girl homemakers, junior American citizens, national defense, press relations, conservation, Red Cross cooperation, and membership. Enrollment for summer school at Montana State Normal College is expected to reach 125 for both five week terms, with eight new light housekeeping apartments added to the old dormitory for mothers and children. Regular classes began yesterday.

Beaverhead county voters backed the highway debenture measure by about ten to one in a special election. The plan allocates 46 million over three postwar years with 12.9 million state match. Unofficial tally 353 for 34 against across four precincts counted.

Margaret Sweeney, Beaverhead county superintendent for six years, submitted her resignation to the county commissioners. Christine Smith Opp was named to fill the unexpired term. Social Security Manager To Visit Dillon June 14 1945

Youth Pleads Guilty to Statutory Charge in District Court
David Thompson aged 17 pleaded guilty to a statutory charge in district court before Judge Lyman H. Bennett and was committed to the state industrial school. County Attorney Lew D. Brundage said the youth attacked a cook at the D. W. Hagenbarth ranch near Glen, locking two small children in a barn, striking the woman with a gun butt and rendering her unconscious before the assault.
