Dr H W Tilden resigns as pastor of the First Baptist Church Dillon effective July 1 due to Mrs Tilden's ill health. He cites church unity and growth but notes extended rest for Mrs Tilden and expects to move to North Dakota for a lengthy vacation and recovery.
Mary Carruthers died at her daughter Mrs C B Van Housen home in Lima on June 1 1907 at 5 10 am She was born in Pennsylvania lived in Missouri before her husband fell in the Civil War After years with her youngest daughter she moved to Montana and then Lima She died after a lengthy illness aged 73 years 5 months 27 days Undertaker Brundage prepared her remains and the family sent them to Milan Missouri on June 2 with Mr and Mrs J D Brandenburg and Mrs Van Housen The Lima community extends sympathy to the family

An afternoon program at the public school featured a pupil written and staged sketch The Life of Daniel Boone directed by Misa Bernice Myera with assistant Miss Maude Stone. The audience enjoyed the performance and proceeds will fund mural decoration in the fourth room.

The tenth annual commencement at State Normal College will graduate over thirty students, the largest class yet. Commencement week runs June 16 to 21 with a Baccalaureate, dramatics, Junior banquet, Conservatory concert, Senior Class Day, and the commencement address by Hon. Thomas D. Long. Exhibits from the manual training department will be shown Tuesday and Wednesday at the dormitory. All events except the class play and Junior banquet are open to the public.
The Dillon street fair opens to the public under fire department auspices with strong crowds nightly. Don Fulano the Bitter Root horse debuts as a standout attraction, drawing locals and county visitors to the traveling carnival.
A charming social luncheon hosted at the Morse residence honored visiting ladies from Portland Oregon Billings Montana Los Angeles California and Milwaukee Wisconsin. Guests included Mrs Lorin T Jones Mrs Harley Thompson Mrs W A Jones and Miss Jones with resident hostesses Mea dames Clara Chapman and Iia Thorpe joining local society figures for a Friday gathering benefiting from a festive apple blossom decor and elegant place cards.
wm L Hall, Wine Roe, RT Wing and A R Jacobs spent Wednesday in the Birch Creek district where Engineer Geo R Metlen was at work making permanent surveys of their claims. Wing reports that increased development may bring big copper producers and the district is not dead. He also favors the Argenta district and has great faith in its future.
Encouraging news from the Park Copper Company in Elkhorn sparks optimism for Dillon and Butte stockholders. A Sunday drill at the 200 foot level uncovered a wider ore body, high in silver and copper, enhancing the mine’s future profitability. The board approved bond dealings and the purchase of a neighboring Rose claim, expanding title to 5% of district claims. Several stockholders departed the mine after the meeting in Dillon.
A Friday evening dance at Divide was hosted by Mr C B K Miller of Wisdom in the new store room for the Big Hole Commercial company. The Thompson orchestra of Wisdom provided music and attendees from The Basin Melrose and nearby towns danced warmly. Ben Mallon will manage the Divide branch, seen as a popular, capable choice for the venture.
Joseph E Rich of Steadman Post corrects Dillon Tribune on memorial services saying the address at the opera house was delivered by Brother Winters of the Methodist church not Consrade Marvin. He praises the Relief Corps and expresses gratitude to the Dillon Examiner and Dillon Tribune for public notice.
The Big Hole Ranching Company filed articles of incorporation with Clerk J. S. Baker. Included incorporators are Thomas C. Power, Henry Sieben, and Perry P. Kline. Principal office in Helena. Capitalization $50,000, 500 shares of $100 par value, non-assessable. Perry P. Kline to manage. Directors for initial term: Power, Sieben, Kline.
John Orr set up a new Reo touring car for C. HA. Strowbridge at Divide last Friday. He praised the machine as a beauty and noted its great work. Orr rode with Mr. Strowbridge toward Wisdom and taught him the fine art of pile driving.
The state board of education in Helena confirmed Karl Reidelsberger as instructor of music at the Montana State Normal College after a Dillon protest was found frivolous. A committee report, unanimously adopted, urged confirmation and noted protests were based on hearsay and personal preference for the predecessor. The protestors withdrew the complaint following the committee’s findings.
