Lima Woman Mary Carruthers Dies at 73 in Lima

Mary Carruthers died at her daughter Mrs C B Van Housen home in Lima on June 1 1907 at 5 10 am She was born in Pennsylvania lived in Missouri before her husband fell in the Civil War After years with her youngest daughter she moved to Montana and then Lima She died after a lengthy illness aged 73 years 5 months 27 days Undertaker Brundage prepared her remains and the family sent them to Milan Missouri on June 2 with Mr and Mrs J D Brandenburg and Mrs Van Housen The Lima community extends sympathy to the family

Tenth Annual Graduation at State Normal College

The tenth annual commencement at State Normal College will graduate over thirty students, the largest class yet. Commencement week runs June 16 to 21 with a Baccalaureate, dramatics, Junior banquet, Conservatory concert, Senior Class Day, and the commencement address by Hon. Thomas D. Long. Park Copper Mine Strike Boosts Elkhorn District Prospects

Encouraging news from the Park Copper Company in Elkhorn sparks optimism for Dillon and Butte stockholders. A Sunday drill at the 200 foot level uncovered a wider ore body, high in silver and copper, enhancing the mine’s future profitability. The board approved bond dealings and the purchase of a neighboring Rose claim, expanding title to 5% of district claims. Several stockholders departed the mine after the meeting in Dillon.

Enjoyable Dance At Divide At New Big Hole Store

A Friday evening dance at Divide was hosted by Mr C B K Miller of Wisdom in the new store room for the Big Hole Commercial company. The Thompson orchestra of Wisdom provided music and attendees from The Basin Melrose and nearby towns danced warmly. Ben Mallon will manage the Divide branch, seen as a popular, capable choice for the venture.

Reidelsberger Protest Over Music Instructor Vote Upheld

The state board of education in Helena confirmed Karl Reidelsberger as instructor of music at the Montana State Normal College after a Dillon protest was found frivolous. A committee report, unanimously adopted, urged confirmation and noted protests were based on hearsay and personal preference for the predecessor. The protestors withdrew the complaint following the committee’s findings.
