Beaverhead Fire Crews Halt Three Small Blazes
Beaverhead volunteers stopped three small fires over the weekend in Reichle Glen Argenta and Agency Creek areas. Sheriff John Troupe Deputy C W Buckingham and Ranger A A Schröder with Argenta and local crews reported only light damage. Supervisor Willey warned that a half hour longer exposure could have caused a major forest fire. Idaho forest service reportedly assisted at Agency Creek.

Duck Hunters Gain Added Time in 1943 Migration Season
The Fish and Wildlife Service under Secretary Ickes announces new 1943 migratory bird hunting rules. A half hour more shooting day and 15 days extra possession extend the 70 day season starting Sept 25 in the north zone, Oct 15 in the middle zone, and Nov 2 in the south zone. Bags include sorra with coots up to 25 daily. birds may be kept 45 days after season end. Ickes forecasts a large season and possible small ammunition restock for hunters.

Lowell Grimes Dies After Heart Attack in Dillon
Lowell Thayer Grimes a longtime Dillon resident and prominent southwestern Montana citizen was found dead in his Glendale street cabin last Wednesday evening. Death was due to a heart attack about two hours earlier. He was born May 9 1865 in Indianola Iowa and moved to Montana in 1894. Survived by son Walter Grimes and three grandchildren. Funeral Saturday at Brundage chapel with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

County and School Budgets Advance After Preliminary Review
Randolph County commissioners approve preliminary budgets as proposed by County Clerk Albert Baker and School Superintendent Basie Sweeney. The county budget shows a 2.50 mill reduction with a 2.75 mill cut from the emergency relief fund and a 0.25 mill increase to the fair fund. Other budget figures remain unchanged from last year. Butter price rise issued by OPA effective August first
The Office of Price Administration announced a two point per pound increase for butter to 10 points starting August 1, while shortening, lard, salad and cooking oils drop one point. Margarine remains at four points. Pork boneback and feet become ration-free, and canned pig's feet drop from two to one point.
