Dillon Fourth of July Celebrations Impress With Class
Dillon’s Fourth of July event drew a smaller crowd than last year yet showcased a polished program. Foley and Sullivan boxing drew the crowd, with Sullivan failing to last seven rounds, while Foley dominated. The day also featured footraces, sack and pie eating contests, a boys ball game won by Barry’s team, horse races, wrestling between Jerry McCarthy and Frank Erne, balloon ascensions, a fireworks display, and a dance at the opera house benefiting the Dillon band.

George W Perkins a Beaverhead county pioneer and mining investor died in Pasadena California after a long asthma struggle. Born in Canada at 66, he left a ranching life for mining in Kikhorn and Glendale. His will leaves half the estate to daughter Katella Kelley and the rest to five children, with trust provisions and ten year holding before division. Funeral held at Masonic Hall with interment at Mountain View cemetery.

Plans for Dillon Depot Unveiled by Short Line Officials
Engineers from Salt Lake brought detailed plans for a new Dillon depot to the town. The concrete foundation measures 140 by 44 feet with a 20 by 40 feet engine room in the basement and steam heating throughout. The first floor includes a baggage room a 37 by 30 feet, express office 5 by 18 feet lobby 10 by 12 feet men waiting room 28 by 34 feet train order and telegraph office 20 by 18 feet and a south end ladies waiting room 28 by 34 feet. The main building totals 130 by 40 feet and will be 35 feet high with upper rooms for future offices and bids to be solicited from local contractors.

Dacotah Mining Plans New 25 Ton Cyanide Mill on Bald Mountain
Dacotah Mining intends to build a 25 ton cyanide mill on Bald Mountain, using water power. The plant will include an air compressor and complete cyanide processing. Ore on the dump is valued at about 30 dollars per ton, with lower grade material at 10 to 12 dollars. Dan Burkholder leads the company formed about a year ago and a saw mill will also be erected to supply lumber for operations.

Busy at the Dark Horse Mine Under New Superintendent
J H Lanyon appointed general superintendent at the Dark Horse property says work will expand. Eighteen miners currently employed, with plans to hire twenty more. Ore samples run 37 percent copper with gold and silver, and 100 tons ready for shipment. Dalath owners plan Dillon office and local headquarters with stockholders visiting around July 25.
