Tragic Chinamen Pass in 1869 Stage Trip to Montana
Sunday meeting recalls the 1869 Salt Lake to Virginia City drive of nine Chinese laborers. A blizzard stranded the group near Hole in the Rock, with eight perishing and one surviving briefly before dying in Bannack. The dead were buried at a knoll later named China Point near Beaver Canyon.

Spiritualists Form Montana State Association in Butte Meeting
The July 5 Butte gathering drew spiritualists from nearly every Montana city as Mrs. G W Kates lectured and tested clairvoyant powers. A state organization was formed with W J Hicks Anaconda as president and trustees named to manage The State Spiritualists Association of Montana. The group voted to note press coverage and thanks Montana communities for aid in organizing.

William M. Rhodes and Miss Mabel A. Tont were married Sunday evening by Rev. J. W. Tait at 21 California Avenue in a private ceremony with close relatives. Eva M. Williams and William B. Orem attended the groom and bride respectively. The couple will honeymoon on the Oregon Short Line before settling in Beaverhead County where Rhodes works in sheep and cattle business.
