Forger Here Is Sentenced Prison Term
Reuben C. Smith, a transient ranch laborer, pleaded guilty to forgery in district court before Judge Lyman H. Bennett and was sentenced to two years in state prison. He was taken to Deer Lodge Monday afternoon by Sheriff Claude Lay and Undersheriff M. G. Ramsey after being arrested for cashing a forged Jack Brown signature. County Attorney Lew D. Brundage led the case. Curtis LaMar Wooten, sought by San Francisco authorities on arson charges, was held by Deputy Sheriff Larry Peterson near Lima and brought to Dillon for questioning, admitting he started fires at the St Margaret's club after a dispute there.

Native of Dillon Is Summoned
Mrs. Martha Stone Wernli a native of Dillon and wife of J G Wernli of South Pasadena California died Thursday morning at University hospital in Charlottesville Virginia from complications after an operation. Her brother R Malcolm Stone of Dillon announced the death. The funeral will be held Saturday in South Pasadena where interment will follow. Mrs Wernli was born in Dillon on October 8 1902, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs A L Stone.
