Recollections of Bannack life by Anthony H. French
Anthony H. French recalls Bannack in 1863 to 1879 including his birth in a Harby brewery era house, Plummer and Horan events, ore mills near Marysville, and a street map of early town structures. He notes the jail, brick courthouse, Meade hotel, and local families while detailing the Nez Perce scare and life along Hangman’s Gulch.

Meat supply outlook for 1957 shows slight drop per person
The 1957 total meat supply is estimated at about 160 pounds per person, down from 163–164 pounds in 1956, driven chiefly by lower hog production. Pork per consumer at 63 pounds marks a new low since 1938 except for 1954, while beef cattle numbers and slaughter hit a record high with possible small inventory changes in January 1957. Beef prices may rise modestly in early 1957. Sheep and lamb production has not yet rebounded amid regional labor and drought issues.
