Beaverhead County Plans Washington Birthday Observance
Five districts have completed preparations for a bicentennial observance of George Washington's birth in Beaverhead County. A declamatory contest open to all schools and grades will feature the event, along with an essay contest. Lieut Gov Frank A Hazelbaker is named general chair man to coordinate school and organizational efforts. A committee leads the school contests with Charles Henry Dillon superintendent as chair. Gladys Garr county superintendent, Mrs B L Fair Wank Legion auxiliary president, Louis Schmittroth Beaverhead post commander, and W W continue the lineup.

Schools of City Begin Second Half
The Pesventean county high school and the Normal college training school started the second semester of the 1931 1932 year on Monday. Enrollment rose slightly as eighth grade graduates register for half year subjects. Mid year graduation exercises at the training school Friday saw 13 eighth graders receive diplomas from J E Monroe. Superintendent Charles Henry spoke and Rev J A Meeke delivered the commencement address. The Lutheran pastor gave invocational remarks. A musical program with processional and recessional and two selections by the training school orchestra rounded out the event.

Sheepmen Attend Bozeman Convention at Montana Wool Growers
Beaverhead county sheepmen traveled Sunday to Bozeman for the annual Montana Wool Growers convention. The delegation included W. G. Gilbert Howard Morse Edwin Whitworth and A. P. Williams with two members on the wages and shearing committees. Frank Mason accompanied by Lester Schultz Charlies LaDue Harry Foster and Fred Gilbert also attended. Many Civil Cases Set for Trial in District Court Calendar
Twelve civil suits are scheduled for trial in the regular jury term opening February 16, announced by Judge Lyman H. Bennett of Virginia City. One criminal case listed: State of Montana vs Monroe W. Bucy charged with a felony, set for February 15, 1932. Union Electric Co. vs Lovell continued.

Three Men Held in Centennial Valley Hay Fire Arson
Three men M W Bucy Joe Clough and Pat Young are held in the county jail on arson charges for burning 400 tons of hay stacks on the Jones and Neighbors ranches in the Centennial valley on the night of November 20 1929. Bucy was captured in West Yellowstone after Deputy Sheriff W B Barry traced him through heavy snow from Monida to the park entrance. Clough was arrested in Idaho Falls after a prior capture at Shelly Idaho. The motive remains undetermined as authorities pursue details of the case and car tracks found in the snow.
