Income Tax Remains in Dillon for 1918 Returns
Deputy internal revenueman John G Helferth spent a week in Dillon collecting data on Beaverhead county taxpayers and mailed about 500 notices for the 1918 income tax. He will meet taxpayers Jan 23 24 25 and 27 in the county assessor’s office at the courthouse and will travel to Lima Jan 28. He urged unmarried earners of 1000 or more and married couples with 2000 or more to prepare sworn income reports detailing wages, property income, rents, interest, dividends, sales and profits, with deductions for taxes, repairs, insurance, and mortgage interest.

Young Dillon Boy Dies of Meningitis at 11
Lee Henneberry son of Mr and Mrs W F Henneberry died after a short illness from spinal meningitis. The 11 year old attended Dillon schools and served as office boy and newsy for The Examiner. His death at ten o clock Monday morning cast gloom over the community.

Word arrives of Malcolm Wilkins Caffee death after service at Camp Taylor. He studied law in Dillon under Gov Ed win L Norris and lived with his aunt Mrs Norris. Survived by wife and two children. earlier served as Helena assistant secretary to Norris before pursuing a Carthage Ill business career. His mother Mrs Caffee was well remembered in Dillon and died soon after Lieut Arthur Caffee’s death at Indianhead Md last summer.
