Thrift Stamp Campaign Begins in Beaverhead County

The Beaverhead campaign aims to raise 133 018 in thrift stamps over a year with every man woman and child urged to own at least one stamp. The plan gives each of the first 100 children under fifteen a free stamp with purchase of Thrift Stamps at 25c. A Thrift card fills with sixteen stamps and 12c more, or 13c in February, then exchanged for a Government Bond bearing 4 percent interest. Learn to save and aid the war effort.

Big Annual Dillon Horse Auction Sets Three Day Sale

George Ditty of Dillon Horse Sales announces a three day February auction in Dillon from the 21st to 23rd with about fifteen hundred head of heavy draft and work horses. The event moves to private yards south of the stockyards, featuring a modern yard and large barn to house 100 head. Officials expect strong local and out of state buyer turnout with government buyers unlikely in large numbers.

Dillon Men Return From Camp Lewis Trip

Hugh Anderson and Finley Cunningham returned Thursday from a Pacific coast trip that included a visit to Camp Lewis. They report the Dillon boys look well, are gaining weight, and making fine soldiers. Army life agrees but many await direct action. Some have transferred to California for better weather while Montana men miss Washington’s wet climate.

State Bank of Wisdom selects new board and officers

At its meeting Tuesday 4 PM the State Bank of Wisdom stockholders elected directors C W Francis A M Sheimo Carl R Huntley Chas E B Miller and Daniel Boyle. The board organized with Boyle as president Francis and Huntley as vice presidents and Sheimo as cashier. An eight percent dividend was declared and $3600 of undivided profits moved to surplus, raising surplus to $4000.
